Yoga and Kirtans every day

” Welcome to So’Ham –

Kirtan’  Retreat

July 21 – 27th, 2025, in Nora, Sweden

Welcome to a heartwarming week of kirtan, yoga, meditation, inspiring workshops, and peaceful moments of silence in the serene Swedish countryside.

Held at the beautiful So’Ham Retreat Center, just 20 minutes north of Nora, Sweden, this retreat offers a sanctuary for rest, reflection, and joyful connection.

Let yourself be immersed in the healing and heart-opening magic of chanting, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of a like-minded community.

Kirtan is a simple yet profound way to connect with your heart. As the melodies and mantras flow, they gently carry you into stillness. And when the music fades, you’ll find yourself resting in deep peace—open, calm, and ready for true inner silence.

Workshops

During the retreat, we offer wonderful opportunities to dive deeper into the musical and devotional aspects of kirtan. You can join workshops to learn and play instruments such as tabla, mṛdaṅga, harmonium, and kartāls (cymbals). These hands-on sessions will help you build confidence, whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills.

This summer’s workshops include:
🎶 Voice Activation

Mats Bio

I made my way to India by hitchhiking from Sweden in 1977. Spirituality was not something I was interested in at all. It discovered me. I spend a few months in a music school in Dharamsala. I play mridung, tabla, cymbal and harmonium.  Towards the end of that journey, I came across a small yoga ashram in the center of Sri Lanka. For 3 months, I practiced intensive Hatha Yoga and experienced several amazing, earth-shattering experiences of my true self. Life took u-turn.

After returning to Sweden, I was determined to find a path that would resonate with me. In January 1979, I stepped into a Siddha Yoga Meditation Center in Stockholm. I was home. The following years I visited the ashrams in upstate New York and in Ganeshpuri, India. 1983 I moved into the ashram in Ganeshpuri and remained there for 12 years (in between Ganeshpuri and upstate New York). Deeply involved in my training/sadhana, yoga training, yoga center leader trainings, yoga philosophy and spiritual practices. A tremendous amount of spiritual growth and understanding took place during those year.

Time for next change, 1995, “Mats, its time for your to continue your sadhana outside the Ashram”. I found home in Los Angeles, where I stayed for 22 years. Very involved the yoga and spiritual community there. Participating and putting together yoga retreats, yoga workshops, kirtan sessions, etc. Had my children in LA and balanced young ones with sadhana. As my understanding grew, my spiritual concepts continued to dissipate. More growth.

Forward to 2017. Prema and I, along with five of our children, moved to a large property in the Swedish countryside. Far away for the hustle and bustle of LA. We opened a Holistic Cafe, a Yoga and Meditation Center and dove into a different kind of life.

I feel very fortunate and blessed for this life and for the growing understanding and experience of what I really am.

Evas Bio

My life with Chanting Mantras.

I was born in Stockholm in 1963.

My grandmother, who was Sami, used to sing to me when I was very young. I loved her songs about nature and stories about the unexplainable.

When I was 9 years old, I applied to Adolf-Fredrik’s music school and got in. I was classically schooled there for 6 years. Much of the repertoire had spiritual messages. It was powerful to sing in Stockholm’s beautiful churches. I enjoyed it and found a security in it.

But felt like I was missing something

I came into contact with Yoga and Mantra song in Stockholm when I was 15 years old when I met Krishna Premi Devi. She sat and played the harmonium and sang Vedic mantras. I immediately felt something happen inside me when I sang. That I was home! A sense of freedom I had never felt before. An inner cleansing.

After our first meeting, she became my teacher and great role model. She taught me to play Harmonium, Mridanga and Kartals. I could sit for hours and sing with her. Beautiful songs in Sanskrit from the Bhakti tradition, Love and Devotion. Above all from the Bhakti tradition, the path of love and devotion. ❤️

Since then I have actively lived with these mantras. Sung them. Meditate them. Live them. Now, I travel and lead kirtan and voice activation workshops and retreats.

In recent years, I have also cautiously begun to explore my Sami heritage. The joik is exciting and describes nature in a beautiful way that also touches my heart deeply.

It is so wonderful to sing together with others.

Experience borderless community.

Looking forward to singing with you!

In love
Eva/Radhakumari.
